Raul Lebajo

Raul Lebajo

Raul H. Lebajo, born in 1941 in Tacloban City, is a pioneering Filipino artist whose career spans over five decades. After studying at the University of the East and winning first prize in the 1968 Shell National Student Art Competition, he went on to earn international recognition, including a grant from the Illinois Art Council Agency in 1989 and representing the Philippines at the Beaux Arts – Art in the World exhibition in Paris in 1998.

Lebajo is known for creating dreamlike worlds where nature and imagination intertwine. Influenced by a holistic, Eastern view of energy and balance, his surreal landscapes are filled with floating forms and shifting perspectives. Familiar objects—roots, tables, windows—are reimagined as part of living, breathing environments that pulse with quiet mystery. With solo exhibitions in Switzerland, the U.S., and Hong Kong, Lebajo remains one of the most recognized Filipino artists on the international stage.
